The surgery of LAPBAND was outlined to me by Dr. Gazayerli
and/or his staff including but not limited to the peri-operative complications
of bleeding, infection, injury to hollow organs (e.g. intestinal, biliary or
renal tract) or solid organs (e.g. Liver or spleen) needing immediate or delayed
open surgery to repair and control such injury.
Specific anesthetic complications will be outlined to the
patients by the anesthesiologist including but not limited to respiratory,
renal, neuro-muscular or cardiovascular complications as well as the possibility
of blood clots not prevented by the measures taken to prevent them; as well as
delayed complications including but not limited to infection, erosion, dysphagia
(difficulty swallowing), slipping of the band or obstruction requiring removal
or replacement or endoscopic relief of the obstruction as well as any other
complications related to or aggravated by the patient’s pre-existing condition,
known or unsuspected that could result in hospitalization, debility or even
death.
